Camp 07

Jordan successfully hosted its pilot Camp in October 2007, bringing the initiative widespread acclaim on the international sporting and political stages. 70 leaders of youth were selected to attend, some of which had lived their whole lives in conflict. They were nominated by organisations including the UN, the UNDP, National Olympic Committees, the British Council, other NGOs and Ministries of Youth, Sport and Education in six countries with varying conflict situations: Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, Sri Lanka and Sudan. Ages ranged from 18-65; 38% were women with four religions represented. In addition eight Jordanian Peacekeeping officers and 13 peacekeeping soldiers took part in the training.
